Paleo Shepherd’s Pie

One of our members made a delicious paleo shepherds pie over the holidays and who doesn’t love some shepherds pie?! Here’s a great recipe to try out!


  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 carrots chopped
  • 2 celery stalks chopped
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp. coconut oil
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4  tsp cinnamon
  • salt and pepper to taste

Sweet Potato Topping:

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes mashed
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil (melted)
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Start with making the sweet potato topping – cook sweet potatoes until soft
  • Mash until smooth with coconut oil and seasoning
  • Preheat oven to 350℉
  • Start with cooking the ground beef over medium heat in the coconut oil
  • Once beef is partially browned, add chopped carrots, celery, onions, garlic and chicken broth
  • Stir in tomato paste and seasonings
  • Cook on medium heat until carrots are soft
  • Transfer pie filling to a dish and top evenly with sweet potato mash
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes
  • Enjoy!
