Tall Clean | Olympic Weightlifting | Reno Barbell Club

 In General, Olympic Weightlifting

The tall clean is an excellent movement to perform to train speed under the bar and to teach a lifter how to maintain a grip on the bar as long as possible in order to avoid the bar crashing down on us. Keep the weight light when doing this movement.

To perform the tall clean do the following:

-Stand with the bar in the clean grip
-Initiate the movement by coming on your toes, pulling the bar up and immediately falling into the hole. Maintain a full grip on the bar when doing this to prevent it from crashing down on you
-When you catch the bar in the hole keep the elbows up and stand up
