The hamstring on rig is an effective stretch to loosen up the hamstrings if they are tight. This is usually the case in runners. It is also an effective stretch to alleviate pain in the knee that stems from the front of the back and can do away with calf tightness or pain.

To do the stretch perform the following:

-Find a post or a doorway
-Lay on your back
-Place one foot on the doorway with the other straight on the floor
-Try to get your hamstring as close to the wall as possible
-Hold this stretch for 1:00-1:30 for three rounds on each side. Be sure to stop if you feel tingling or numbness in your toes!
